Hi all, Coach Gifford here. Many of you have known this is coming but we wanted to wait until the hiring process was completed. I can finally let you know of the change in coaching for XC next year. I stepped down as the head coach after this past fall. I have so enjoyed heading up the boys coaching team these past 10 years and have felt extremely blessed to get to lead the team for so long and through so many wonderful experiences. This is not good bye though. I am not leaving, but just changing roles. Through many conversations with the other coaches and my family, we have all decided that I will move to an assistant role so that I can support and help the team grow in different ways. I really look forward to being the best assistant I can be and continue to invest in the maple grove XC community in new and different ways.
The reason I have waited to announce my change in role is because I wanted to wait until they officially hired the new head coach, Sean Heaton. We have had a great working relationship and I would not have made this transition to being an assistant if I wasn’t handing the program over to the incredibly capable hands of Heaton and Hannah Hempe. These two will run an incredible program and I am so excited to assistant and help out in any way that I can under their leadership. Our Maple Grove XC community is so incredibly blessed to have two such dedicated and knowledgeable coaches to head up our future.
If anyone has any questions for me or about the transition forward, please reach out. I am an open book and would love to share about my journey and what has led to this change.
